And Then There Were Three…

And Then There Were Three…

After many years as a wildlife rehabilitator who did not take in opossums I am now caring for three of them. This fall the first young male opossum (Octavo) came to us after being attacked by a dog. His tiny face was covered with wounds and he also had a severe upper respiratory infection. Since I had virtually no experience with opossums I relied on the guidance of two other rehabilitator friends to help care for him correctly. Within several weeks Octavo was showing dramatic improvement when another older female opossum arrived....

Safe Places

Safe Places

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to nurture and care for animals. Next the line of bucks emerges from the thick brush and slowly saunter across the road like the old baseball players emerging from the cornfield in Field of Dreams....

New Beginnings

New Beginnings

For forty years, horses and their riders were the heart of this magical place called Nottingham. Gradually over the past fifteen years wildlife have shared this special setting, and have brought their own healing energy. Over the last few years I have struggled with how to bring both of my passions together. I want to honor the important role this barn has made in the lives of hundreds of horses and riders. At the same time, I want to explore the crucial responsibility of both rehabilitating local wildlife while working to preserve...
